Progressivism, Essentialism

Stay hungry or filled

Lets see 3 shows seen recently.

Animal Collective @ Metropolis. It was pretty average. His too much, it was bouncing everywhere. I waited impatiently tonight and I came a little disappointed. Some good moments: Lion in a coma, Fireworks, and we love it when Panda Bear plays the drum ... but otherwise, bof. My opinion is that this show would have been outside more enjoyable. And I'll spare you my comments on the girl's warm-ups that looked more like singing stuff that encourage viewers to open their veins. Could use some work, then.

Elfin Saddle and Clues @ Ukrainian Federation. Detour in Mile End on the next day to dive into the world of hipster. I had no idea what to expect, I went because of free Saturday night. I came back delighted with Elfin Saddle, Clues but left me indifferent. First, Elfin Saddle: 3 people and sometimes it looks like they are 5. I'm not a fan of girls' voices acute, but in this case, it was something charming. Probably the fact that she sings in Japanese. Beautiful discovery. Regarding Clues, we understand the hype because of links with Arcade Fire and Islands (two bands that I do not particularly matter), but ... it adds nothing musically. The album listens well into the iPod, nothing more. Overall, it was too hot in the room, but it's OK with a nice evening!

The National @ Metropolis. Wow. Excellent show, moreover it will be difficult to upgrade for best show of 2009. It all started with Slow Show. The first thrills came at that time ... not to proceed until 15 minutes after the recall, once in the subway. Honorable mention to drummer "divided by 4" and totally in his bubble, impressive. The singer, on fire and apparently happy with the turn of the evening, got the internship for Mr. November. In short, there was really "something" at Metropolis on Friday. I told myself that About Today will end a beautiful show ... but I did not think they thought too. Really more difficult to be filled when leaving a room. Wow.
